Types of Eating Disorder Treatment

Inpatient

Our Inpatient programming is designed to support adults, children and adolescents of all genders who are acutely ill and are experiencing medical and mood instability as a result of their eating disorder.

Residential

Within ERC Pathlight's step-down model of care, the Residential eating disorder treatment program as well as Residential mood & anxiety treatment program offer medically stable patients a highly-structured and supportive 24-hour treatment environment.

Partial Hospitalization

Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) offers some of the same intensity and structure of Residential mood, anxiety, and eating disorder treatment while providing additional opportunities to practice recovery outside of the controlled eating disorder treatment environment during evenings at home or in peer-supported apartment communities.

On-site Intensive Outpatient

Our Intensive Outpatient program is a flexible mood, anxiety, and eating disorder treatment program that allows patients to work, go to school, or care for children during the day and sleep at home at night.

Inpatient Eating Disorder Treatment

Based in Denver, Colorado, our Inpatient programming is designed to support children, adolescents, and adults that are acutely ill and are experiencing medical and mood instability as a result of their eating disorder.

Inpatient Program

Though Inpatient programming offers 24/7 medical support, adult patients are not confined to a hospital bed or room. To the extent that they are physically able, adult patients at the Inpatient level of care are encouraged to participate in programming and interact with a supportive treatment community of adult patients and staff. In addition to offering 24/7 nursing supervision, medical management and the oversight of a full-time internal medicine physician, our Inpatient programs are located in close proximity to medical campuses. This proximity allows the treatment team to address the medical complications that often accompany eating disorders, and supports a seamless transition to acute care should emergency medical intervention become necessary.

Residential Program

Eating Recovery Center's residential eating disorder treatment program offers effective, evidence-based treatment for patients with serious eating disorders, like anorexia and bulimia. Within ERC's step-down model of care, medically stable patients receive support 24 hours a day within a highly-structured environment.

Residential Program for Children, Teens and Adults

Our residential eating disorder treatment program is designed for patients that need 24-hour support, including around-the-clock observation and daytime medical and psychiatric supervision. Individuals in the residential program no longer require the same intensity of medical support and stabilization provided in our inpatient program. A structured schedule incorporates groups, community meetings and individual therapy to model a recovery-based daily structure. This helps patients overcome destructive routines, rules and behaviors. The treatment program also focuses on the factors maintaining patients' eating disorders, recovery skills, and relapse prevention.

Partial Hospitalization

Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP ) offers some of the same intensity and structure of Residential eating disorder treatment while providing additional opportunities to practice recovery outside of the controlled eating disorder treatment environment during evenings at home or in peer-supported apartment communities.

Partial Hospitalization Program

Unlike many Partial Hospitalization Programs that only offer 6 hours of eating disorder treatment, 5 days per week, our Partial Hospitalization Program offers patients a full day of treatment, 7 days per week. By offering a full day of adult eating disorder treatment programming every day of the week, patients are supported through all meals and snacks with ample structure and containment to achieve symptom interruption and/or weight restoration. Programming in our Partial Hospitalization program emphasizes the development of lifelong recovery skills in a safe, structured and supportive environment. A well-rounded curriculum offers staff-supported opportunities to practice interactions and challenges outside of treatment through many avenues. Many of our patients travel from around the nation to receive care at Eating Recovery Center. We are pleased to assist these patients by providing housing and transportation options to out of area patients. This is done through our Concierge Services program.

Intensive Outpatient Program for Adults with Eating Disorders

The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at Eating Recovery Center empowers patients to take ownership of their recovery and become active participants in their lives. Our Intensive Outpatient program is a flexible eating disorder treatment program that allows patients to work, go to school, or care for children during the day and sleep at home at night.

In IOP, patients are in treatment for 3 hours per day, 3 days per week for up to 9 hours per week. Programming includes nutritional counseling, individual therapy, family therapy, supported meals and more. The program also incorporates core recovery principles, values, mindfulness, and connectedness. The IOP can serve as a step-down level of care, helping to foster a positive transition into activities of daily living for adults upon discharging from our Residential or Partial Hospitalization programs. IOP can also be leveraged as a direct-admit level of care for adult patients requiring a higher level of care from an outpatient setting - allowing them to remain engaged with their lives. Our Adult Intensive Outpatient facilities are in Washington, California (in Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area), Chicago, Maryland (offering IOP four nights per week), Ohio, Dallas, San Antonio and Houston.
